BOSNIAN OPERATORS TARGET ADVERTISING OF ILLEGAL IPTV SERVICES

- Bosnian associations seek faster removal of ads promoting illegal IPTV services
- Talks focus on clearer reporting and takedown procedures with platforms and advertisers
- Initiative targets unauthorised access to television channels and audiovisual content
- No participating platforms or implementation timetable were announced
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cable operators and audiovisual rights representatives are seeking faster removal of online advertisements promoting illegal IPTV services.
The Association of Cable Operators and Distributors of Network Services (AKOP BiH) and the Association for the Protection of Audiovisual Works (APAW BiH) met representatives of online platforms and the advertising sector to discuss clearer reporting and removal procedures.
The initiative aims to restrict the promotion and sale of services offering unauthorised access to television channels and other audiovisual content. The associations say these services damage rights holders and licensed distributors.
“It is equally important to restrict the channels through which they reach users, and online advertising is one of them,”
AKOP BiH said in translated comments.
Discussions also covered how illegal IPTV systems operate, the role of online intermediaries and handling complaints in the context of Bosnian and EU rules and practice.
The announcement does not identify the participating platforms or set a timetable for introducing the proposed procedures.
