A joint TV spot has been produced by commercial broadcasters associated in the Association of Commercial Television on the occasion of World Television Day, which falls on 21 November.

The main commercial players state that the increased TV fee together with the extension of its payment to include all users of ČT services instead of only those having a TV set would bring imbalance in the market.

In a crisis, people typically cut back on non-essentials like entertainment. But Nova TV, which resurrected the fading streaming video platform Voyo last year, is not complaining about declining interest. Voyo has already half a million users, and despite the crisis, their numbers continue to grow.

Voyo, operated by Nova TV, has just reached 500,000 subscribers for the Czech Republic and Slovakia combined, and is estimated to be catching up with Netflix.
